It's no shaven haven, but it is comedy...(and football)

Wednesday night was spent at the Haven Pub in Ealing where my mate Njambi is running a free weekly comedy club...

I've known Njambi for about 12 years now and we met through work. We were in IT at the time and she left to start a career in Nursing / Maternity classes...

When I found out she was starting out in stand up, I sat down....:-)

She's taken this one step further and set-up a regular free event so I dragged a couple of my mates along with me... Njambi's night clashed with the football and the pub, who sensibly decided to show the match first and start the comedy later on...

What can I say about the football? So far this tournament has been the best one I've seen with the quality of the football, the approach by the players, the intensity of the games - it really has become a "must see" bit of TV for me and I hope that the momentum continues.

I watched the Denmark / Portugal game at home with Kam over a beer and then we popped down to Ealing for a bit of food, watch the Holland / Germany game and catch up with Njambi and Dave (good to see you again mate!)

Saab joined us later in the evening and that was my first night out with her away from the usual crowd and events - good fun and think we all enjoyed it...

A big thank you to the stand ups (Rory O Hanlon, Jane Weedon, Robyn Perkins, Joe Bains and Njambi McGrath) - it takes a lot of guts to stand up in front a bunch of strangers and then try to make them laugh...

Hat's off to you and fair play...

I cracked up when Njambi recalled her mum who was "a real slave driver - all the way to the coast" (I'm reading "The People's History of the United States" at the moment, so it hit a spot!)
